“You need to be aware of what others are doing, applaud their efforts, acknowledge their successes, and encourage them in their pursuits. When we all help one another, everybody wins.”–Jim Stovall
Collaboration in the music industry sparks the most beautiful and unique art. Collaboration in the music business opens up impactful opportunities for artists in the local music scene. Four local music organizations including Beezlo Music, PB and J Records, Color in Sound LLC, and Next Generation Concerts came together and created the music networking event “Breaking In” hosted at Loretta’s Last Call on Lansdowne Street in Boston on Sunday June 26th from 1pm to 4pm. This event will include a panel of live music industry professionals, performances by two of Boston’s best local acts, and slots for local acoustic artists showcasing their music.
The producer and organizer of “Breaking In” is Bailey of Beezlo Music, who is passionate about empowering local artists when working with restaurants and venues, providing education on what they are looking for when hiring musicians. A musician herself, Bailey played and toured with different local wedding groups, rock bands and country bands. Her original band, Count and King, recently released a single “Race Car” found on all streaming platforms (click here to listen).
Beezlo works directly with venues like Loretta’s Last Call, Nash Bar, The Verb Hotel, The Colonnade Hotel, River Bar, and many more around the city. She focuses on building sustainable entertainment programs for musicians while enriching the Boston music scene. Beezlo Music offers booking management services for venues, including audio engineer scheduling, payroll handling, and social media/marketing. Driving her force for collaboration with other music organizers, Bailey believes that Boston’s tight knit music community will thrive with different organizations and management teams working together for the common good. Their REWIND program is a linear music artist coaching and development program covering the legal, marketing, and business sides of becoming a career artist. Her music marketing, advertising, and promotional services include Spotify, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, along with brand automation and workflow. Color In Sound LLC also works in Website Design, Content Creation, Graphic Design, Digital Assets, Photography, and Pre through Post-Production of Music videos. Jass’s decision to collaborate with all three organizations comes from a genuine understanding of power in numbers. Color In Sound LLC is offering a marketing package to one lucky winner attending the event. Jass Bianchi wants all attendees to leave “Breaking In” feeling empowered and one step closer to achieving their immediate goals. Check out her website here.
PB and J Records is run by longtime singer-songwriter, artist and musician Jay Psaros who began playing at local venues while hustling as a booking agent, producer, music blog writer, and teacher (check out his music here). After spent over a decade of working, touring, and sharing stages with the likes of The Mavericks, Daughtry, Third Eye Blind, Ziggy Marley, Three Dog Night, and many more. These experiences provide him with great insight into how the industry functions at all levels. PBJ Records covers a wide spectrum of services within the music industry, including artist development, content creation, career consultation, and gig placement. They represent many rooms as their “Agent in Charge” exclusively as well as work with other agents around New England securing entertainment for a variety of events. They own a full service audio and visual studio in Situate, MA where they often make content packages for artists in need. Jay wants people coming to “Breaking In” to recognize that through hard work, dedication, and perseverance, their goals are 100% within reach. “I hope to educate upcoming artists on some things they can do to stand above an already saturated marketplace,” says Jay. He believes this collaborative event will keep artists busy while they gain insights and leave with new contacts. It’ll help them with their careers on a variety of fronts. Local musicians Jackie and Jeff DeModena run next Generation Concerts (listen here). They’ve been booking shows, open mics, and youth events in the Boston area since 2011. They perform under their acoustic act Jackie and Jeff, a Top 40 Cover band “Keep the Change,” and their original project Queen and the Savage Kings. Next Generation Concerts specialize in creating unique events with musicians of all ages. They currently manage the music schedule at the Hard Rock Cafe in Foxwoods and the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston. Next Generation Concerts strongly believes in collaboration with focus on offering resources for the local music scene that seem impossible to attain. Jackie was the co-founder of the All You Got Tour and Artists on the Move, which specialized in creating music tours for youth musicians and offering artist development services. After its closing, because of the pandemic, Jackie continued forward, opening doors for youth musicians while also attaining opportunities for professional musicians. Next Generation Concerts writes press releases, music reviews, and event and promotional material. They’re excited about the “Breaking In” collaboration and are donating a Press Release package to a lucky performer chosen by the panel.
